Tottenham Hotspur: Daniel Levy leads race for Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik

According to an update from the paper edition of Corriere dello Sport, via Sport Witness, Tottenham Hotspur and chairman Daniel Levy currently lead the race to sign Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik – but the attacker will reportedly cost around £26 million in transfer fees and nearly £100,000-per-week wages.

Milik, who is out of contract at the end of next season, has been tipped to move away from the San Paolo Stadium in recent weeks – with journalist Fabrizio Romano claiming Napoli’s owner is open to any offers from interested clubs.

Aurelio De Laurentiis, who is also looking to shift defender Kalidou Koulibaly, will only listen to bids around the £26m mark – potentially forcing Levy to spend real money in his search for a Harry Kane back-up.

The Daily Express report Milik will demand £93,750-per-week in salary, close to the £100,000-per-week mark, which would make him the sixth-highest paid player in the squad according to spotrac.

However, given his impressive 51 caps at international level for Poland (Transfermarkt), and the fact he notched 14 goals in all competitions last season for the Serie A side, he could be worth the investment.

The 26-year-old is also keen on a move to the Premier League, a factor that may have leapfrogged Spurs ahead of other suitors like Juventus and AS Roma in the race for his signature.

As Tottenham lead the way for a ‘sensational’ attacker, it remains to be seen whether Levy takes a huge punt on Milik or opts for a cheaper alternative like Joshua King.
